Systematic implications of chromosomal data from two insular species of Peromyscus from the Gulf of California

Article Abstract:

G- and C-banded chromosomal data for Peromyscus sleveni and P. sejugis, deer mice, are presented. The data is interpreted in the context of the systematic and taxonomic relationships of the P. maniculatus species group. The karyotypic data for P. sejugis align them with P. maniculatus, supporting the specific distinction between the taxa.

G-Banded karyotype and ideogram for the North Atlantic Right Whale (Eubalaena glacialis)

Article Abstract:

A first-generation G-banded karyotype and ideogram is described and proposed for the North Atlantic right whale (Eunalaena glacialis) obtained from peripheral blood chromosome preparations from a stranded male calf. Nineteen metaphase cells were found from the cell structure established and the modal chromosome number was termed to be 42.
