Frequency and spatial distribution of environmental Campylobacter spp

Article Abstract:

The sampling protocol and the distribution of Campylobacters in the environment to the level of the species with particular emphasis on C. jejuni isolated from cattle feces are described. It was discovered that there is a potentially high risk of human exposure to Campylobacter spp., particularly C. jejuni in the rural area of Cheshire, United Kingdom.

The inhibitory spectrum of thermophilin 9 from Streptococcus thermophilus LMD-9 depends on the production of multiple peptides and the activity of Blp[G.sub.St], a thiol-disulfide oxidase

Article Abstract:

The antimicrobial activity of Streptococcus thermophilus LMD-9 is examined by testing the susceptibility of 31 bacterial species. The complementation of the motility deficiency of Escherichia coli dsbA has showed that blp[G.sub.St] encodes a functional thiol-disulfide oxidase, indicating an important role for disulfide bridges within thermophilin 9.

Sources of variation in the ampicillin-resistant Escherichia coli concentration in the feces of organic broiler chickens

Article Abstract:

The population of ampicilin-resistant Escherichia coli in the feces of organic broiler chickens was found to increase in the absence of antimicrobial drugs and with the growth of the birds.
