FSTAT (Version 1.2): a computer program to calculate F-statistics

Article Abstract:

The FSTAT version 1.2 is a useful calculator of F statistics with a number of functions, such as estimation of frequency of alleles per sample and overall, observation of heterozygosity per allele and sample, calculation of F(sub st) per pair of samples and testing of the significance of F(sub is), F(sub st) and F(sub it) per locus and overall loci using permutations. It is also suitable for haploid data and can manage missing data. It is distributed free and can be sent electronically in a Binhexed or unencoded format upon request.

A program for estimating the optimum sample size for germplasm conservation

Article Abstract:

The computer software SAMPLE, written in Turbo Pascal, was developed to estimate the optimum sample size for germplasm conservation. The program can handle a maximum of 150 loci and 30 different alleles per locus each at variable frequencies whether theae are known or not. The value of po is needed for unknown frequencies while the estimated frequencies for each allele in each locus is needed when frequencies are known. The program is also available in Spanish.

GENET2: a BASIC program for the analysis of deviations from Hardy-Weinberg law

Article Abstract:

The GENET2 computer program for analyzing deviations from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium proportions has been developed. GENET2 is a BASIC-based program which allows large sample sizes and multiple alleles. Users can define F indexes for each allele. F statistics, variances, significance tests and options for treating rare alleles can then be computed. The program is for interactive use only since many user options are provided for removing or compressing values.
