Article Abstract:
The shape of the gene genealogy and the nature of the polymorphism by adding sequences of another region of the cytochrome b gene and the TP intergenic spacer that makes a total of 566bpp from 74 cod from the Faroe Islands, are examined. The genealogical relationships and homoplasies of cod mtDNA are clearly depicted by providing a clearer picture of the topology of the genealogy.

Article Abstract:
Five microsatellite loci were used to assess the level of genetic variability within and among populations localized in different sub-basins. The high turnover of the Zingel asper populations and the major role of dispersal in population persistence, suggest that the differentiation observed could mainly have arisen from habitat fragmentation in recent history.
