Expression of the gap gene encoding glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase of Streptomyces aureofaciens requires GapR, a member of the AraC/xyIS family of transcriptional activators

Article Abstract:

Expression of the gap gene encoding glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) of Streptomyces aureofaciens has been studied and found to require GapR. The gapR gene was constitutively expressed from one promoter during differentiation. By integrative transformation using double crossover, a stable null mutant of the gapR gene was obtained. The mutation affected growth little and differentiation not at all. Transcription of the GAPDH-encoding gap gene was substantially reduced in the S. aureofaciens (Delta)gapR null mutant, no matter what the carbon source. GapR is a member of the AraC/XyIS family of transcriptional activators.

Identification of DNA-binding proteins involved in regulation of expression of the Streptomyces aureofaciens sigF gene, which encodes sporulation sigma factor sigma(sup)F

Article Abstract:

Results demonstrate that the expression of sigF involved in the encoding of the sporulation-specific sigma factor, sigma(sup)F, is limited to sporulation state of the bacterium. Data reveal that two proteins RsfA and RsfB bind to sigF promoter are identified to be a reressor and an activator of sigF expression, respectively.

The dnrO gene encodes a DNA-binding protein that regulates daunorubicin production in streptomyces peucetius by controlling expression of the dnrN pseudo response regulator gene

Article Abstract:

Results demonstrate that Dnro protein mediates dnrN transcription by specifically binding to the cognate dnrN/dnrO (sub)p1promoter regions. Data also indicate that DnrO may be involved in the regulation of both dnrN and dnrO genes in Streptomyces peucetius.
