Article Abstract:
A comparison, involving a biweekly longitudinal ultrasound, was carried out between 37diabetic pregnant women and their fetuses and 29 nondiabetic, nonsmoking maternal/fetal pairs for studying the fetal growth patterns and the influence of clinical class and glycemic control. The study identified the changing proportions in the limbs, head and abdomen across gestation, thus indicating the developmental changes experienced by the fetus, which is growing in a hypoxic/hyperglycemic physiology.
