Exploring transcriptional regulatory networks in the worm

Article Abstract:

A study uses a yeast one-hybrid assay to report a protein-deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) interaction network for 72 gene promoters and 117 regulatory proteins expressed in cells of the nematode digestive tract. The study is a first step toward mapping transcriptional regulatory networks in distinct metazoan cell lineages and organs using a 'gene-centered' approach.

Mosaic analysis with double makers in mice

Article Abstract:

A method termed mosaic analysis with double-markers (MADM) in mice that allows simultaneous labeling and gene knockout in clones of somatic cells or isolated single cells in vivo is described. MADM shows that interchromosomal recombination can be induced efficiently in vivo in mitotic and postmitotic cells in all tissues examined.

Transposons reanimated in mice

Article Abstract:

The modified derivatives of the piggyBac and Sleeping Beauty DNA transposons help in the insertional mutagenesis in mammalian cells. Derivatives of the L1 retrotransposon are found to be more powerful for mutagenesis of germline cells due to the slow rate of proliferation of DNA transposons.
