Exopolysaccharide expression in Lactococcus lactis subsp. cremoris Ropy352: Evidence for novel gene organization

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine the exopolysaccharides (EPS) operon and associated gene cluster responsible for ropy EPS expression in the Lactococcus lactis subsp. cremoris Ropy352 strain. The results indicate that the specificity of the polymorization and export enzymes in Lactococcus lactis subsp. cremoris Ropy352 is high enough to block the function of just one glycosyltransferase, which abolished ropy EPS production.

New expression system tightly controlled by zinc availability in Lactococcus lactis

Article Abstract:

The new expression system P(sub Zn) zitR, based on the regulatory signals (P(sub Zn) promoter and zitR repressor) of the Lactococcus lactis zit operon, involved in Zn(super 2+) high-affinity uptake and regulation is developed. The P(sub Zn) zitR proved to be a tightly regulated system and a useful tool for controlling protein production in L. lactis.

Nisin-controlled extracellular production of interleukin-2 in Lactococcus lactis strains, without the requirement for a signal peptide sequence

Article Abstract:

The secretory machinery of the bacteriocin lactococcin A is used to study secretion of the cytokine interleukin-2 (IL-2) in Lactococcus lactis. Interleukin secretion in the expression of a mature mouse IL-2 gene does not require a leader sequence.
