Article Abstract:
A group of essential proteins is needed for mitotic exit in budding yeast. These group of proteins, which include the protein phosphatase Cdc14 and the GTPase Tem1, are needed to regulate cyclin-dependent kinase activity. Using mass spectrometric analysis, a protein complex tagged RENT that interacts with Cdc14 is described. RENT, a name that stands for regulator of nucleolar silencing and telophase, is theorized to play a central role in the biochemical process that guides cells from mitosis to G1.

Article Abstract:
A study examined the inactivation of the checkpoint mediator protein, Claspin, by the Xenopus Polo-like kinase. The results hold implications for the future evaluation of such adaptive processes on cell death and genetic aberrations in multicellular organisms.

Article Abstract:
Recombinant TopBP1 induces a large increase in the kinas activity of both Xenopus and human ATR. The studies establish that activation of ATR by TopBP1 is a crucial step in the initiation of ATR-dependent signaling processes.
