Excisable cassettes: New tools for functional analysis of Streptomyces genomes

Article Abstract:

A set of cassettes consisting of single antibiotic resistance genes flanked by the attL and attR sites resulting from site-specific integration of the Streptomyces pSAM2 element was constructed. The cassettes could be easily used to inactivate genes by in-frame deletion in Streptomyces with the help of a three-step strategy.

Identification of extracellular N-acylhomoserine lactone acylase from a streptomyces sp. and its application to quorum quenching

Article Abstract:

A novel Streptomyces strain, M664, which produces an extracellular N-Acylhomoserine lactones (AHL)-degrading enzyme, based on its ability to inhibit AHL-dependent violaein production, is screened and isolated. The enzyme was found to be a heterodimeric protein with subunits of approximately 60 kDa and 23 kDa.

AhlD, an N-acylhomoserine lactonase in Arthrobacter sp., and predicted homologues in other bacteria

Article Abstract:

Research shows that Arthrobacter strain can grow on N-acylhomoserine lactone (AHL) as the sole carbon and nitrogen source. Results describe the cloning and characterization of the ahlD gene encoding the N-acylhomoserine lactonase from Arthrobacter strain.
