Evidence towards the role of arylamine N-acetyltransferase in Mycobacterium smegmatis and development of a specific antiserum against the homologous enzyme of Mycobacterium tuberculosis
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the arylamine N-acetyltransferase (NAT) which activates anti-tubercular drug isniazid. The knocking out the nat gene of Mycobacterium smegmatis in investigating the effect of this strategy on the M. smegmatis sensitivity to the anti-tubercular drug isniazid has been carried out and examined and the results are presented.

Genetic organization of the 07-specific lipopolysaccharide biosynthesis cluster of Escherichia coli VW187 (O7:K1)
Article Abstract:
The genetics of Escherichia coli VW187 (O7:K1) are discussed. Genetic organization of the 07-specific lipopolysaccharide biosynthesis cluster of the strain has been studied. The complete DNA sequence of one region is given and the O antigen chain length regulator gene was identified near the O7 polysaccharide cluster.

Conserved amino acid residues found in a predicted cytosolic domain of the lipopolysaccharide biosynthetic protein WecA are implicated in the recognition of UDP-N-acetylglucosamine
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the WecA protein. The topology of this protein has been modelled, and the role of the conserved motif within the large cytosolic loop has been investigated and discussed.
