Evidence that a single EF-Ts suffices for the recycling of multiple and divergent EF-Tu species in Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2) and Streptomyces ramocissimus
Article Abstract:
The recycling of multiple and divergent elongation factor (EF)-Tu species is discussed relative to Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2) and Streptomyces ramocissimus. Evidence that one EF-Ts is adequate for the recycling of multiple and divergent EF-Tu species exists. The tsf genes of the two strains encode the guanine-nucleotide exchange factor EF-Ts. EF-Tu is important in the prokaryotic elongation cycle.

Characterization of the gene for factor C, an extracellular signal protein involved in morphological differentiation of Streptomyces griseus
Article Abstract:
The gene for factor C (facC), an extracellular signal protein which is a factor in Streptomyces griseus morphological differentiation, is discussed. The complete nucleotide sequence has been determined and the deduced amino aced sequence confirmed. The protein is made up of 324 amino acids, and the predicted molecular mass is 34523 Da.

Nitrogen metabolism in Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2): modification of glutamine synthetase I by an adenylyltransferase
Article Abstract:
Nitrogen metabolism in Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2) is discussed relative to modification of glutamine synthetase I by an adenylyltransferase. An internal adenylyltransferase gene fragment from S. coelicolor was amplified and the sequence was significantly similar to bacterial glnE genes.
