Evaluation of removal of noroviruses during wastewater treatment, using real-time reverse transcription-PCR: different behaviors of genogroups I and II

Article Abstract:

Norovirus genogroup I (GI) and GII in wastewater at different locations in France are quantified by using real-time reverse transcription-PCR (rRT-PCR). The results have shown that GI and GII are seen at high concentrations in the influents at all four sites during the winter gastroenteritis community outbreaks and that each of the treatment systems have reduced viral concentrations.

Inactivation of a norovirus by high-pressure processing

Article Abstract:

Murine norovirus (strain MNV-1) is evaluated for susceptibility to high-pressure processing. It is shown that norovirus can be inactivated by high pressure and has suggested good prospects for inactivation of nonpropagable human norovirus strains in foods.

Use of Tetrahymena thermophila to study the role of protozoa in inactivation of viruses in water

Article Abstract:

A system is devised to examine T4 phase removal by Tetrahymena thermophila and also the cellular mechanism. The results have indicated the active removal of T4 bacteriophage from fluid by macropinocytosis, followed by digestion in food vacuoles.
