Development and application of a real-time PCR approach for quantification of uncultured bacteria in the central Baltic Sea

Article Abstract:

A novel approach, combining total cell counts, environment RNA content and real-time PCR for the quantification of bacteria from the central Baltic Sea, was applied for an uncultured epsilonproteobacterium related to Thiomicrospira denitrificans. The results indicate that the real-time PCR approach can be used to determine cellular and relative abundances of uncultured marine bacterial taxa.

Establishment of a real time PCR based approach for accurate quantification of bacterial RNA targets in water, using Salmonella as a model organism

Article Abstract:

Development and evaluation of an analytical approach based on the use of Quantitative reverse transcription of PCR, is the aim of this study. Salmonella enterica serovar typhimurium is selected as a model organism and the genes coding for InvA are selected as targets.
