Establishing a captive broodstock for the endangered Bonytail chub

Article Abstract:

Bonytail chub is an endangered freshwater fish species, and a new captive broodstock from the 1981 F1 progeny of around 10 wild fish and newly captured wild fish, was evaluated. The amount of genetic variation in F1 progeny shows that including wild fish in the broodstock is essential in increasing the amount of genetic variation.
