Article Abstract:
The number of X chromosomes is half in male fruit flies than the female flies, still the expression of X-linked proteins in males is the same because of a sex-specific compensatory mechanism. A unique two-stage translation silencing mechanism that thwarts synthesis of a male -specific transcription activator in female flies, thus ensuring that gene dosage compensation occurs only in males is reported.

Article Abstract:
Spiroplasma swimming is driven by the propagation of a pair of kinks along the cell body and these kinks are generated by a processive change in body helicity. A processive change in the helicity of the body creates the waves and enables directional movement.
