Article Abstract:
Research demonstrates that Escherichia coli DH5alpha strains exhibit higher thiosulfate reductase activity and produce more hydrogen sulfide compared to control strains both aerobically and anaerobically. Data show that the cells remove cadmium efficiently and are useful in metal remediation programs.

Article Abstract:
Large amounts of polyphosphates are accumulated in Pseudomonas aeruginosa for the removal of heavy metals from aqueous streams. Time-resolved laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy (TRLFS) indicates that uranyl is initially sorbed to the cells as uranyl hydroxide and is then precipitated as uranyl phosphate as phosphate is released from the cell.

Article Abstract:
A series of new expression vectors (pPro) is constructed for the regulated expression of genes in Escherichia coli. The pPro vectors contain the prpBCDE promoter (P(sub prpB)) responsible for expression of the propionate catabolic genes (prpBCDE) and prpR encoding the positive regulator of this promoter.
