Endothelial PDGF-B retention is required for proper investment of pericytes in the microvessel wall

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on platelet-derived growth factor which displays C-terminal protein motifs. The authors conclude that platelet-derived growth factor's retention in microvessels is important for pericytes' recruitment and organization and for retinal and renal function in adult mice.

Identification of the C-signal, a contact-dependent morphogen coordinating multiple developmental responses in Myxococcus xanthus

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on contact-dependent extracellular C-signal morphogen. The authors demonstrate that full-length 25-kD protein (p25) and 17-kD protein (p17) are associated with outer membrane, and that p17 is produced by N-terminal proteolytic processing of p25 by serine protease.

A novel class of secreted hydrophobic proteins is involved in aerial hyphae formation in Streptomyces coelicolor by forming amyloid-like fibrils

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on secreted hydrophobic proteins, chaplins. The authors report that these proteins function via self-assembly into amyloid-like fibrils.
