Article Abstract:
The survival of Escherichia coli O157:H7 in feces from cattle fed different types of diets and the effect of trans-cinnamic, coumaric, or ferulic acid on the survival of this pathogen in cattle feces are investigated. The results indicate that phenolic acids common to forage plants can reduce viable counts of Escherichia coli O157:H7 shed in feces.

Article Abstract:
Escherichia coli strains were constructed that expressed vanabin1 or vanabin2 fused to maltose-binding protein (MBP) in the periplasmic space. It is found that both strains accumulated about twenty times more copper(II) ion than the control B21 strain, while no significant accumulation of vanadium was observed.

The dnaC gene is used for developing a genetic method that has permitted the mutational analysis of other essential genes of Escherichia coli and related enterobacteria. This method is widely applicable for the genetic analysis of many other essential genes.
