Effects of chloromethanes on growth of and deletion of the pce gene cluster in dehalorespiring desulfitobacterium hafniense strain Y51

Article Abstract:

The dehalorespiring Desulfitobacterium hafniense strain Y51 is known to efficiently dechlorinate tetrachloroethene (PCE) to cis,1,2-dichloroethene (cis-DCE) via trichloroethene by PceA reductive dehalogenase encoded by the pceA gene. A study was conducted that showed that growth inhibition of strain Y51 was caused by chloroform (CF) contamination of cis-DCE and that CF did not affect the growth of PCE-nondechlorinating small deletion and large deletion variants.

Sequence analysis of amplified DNA fragments containing the region encoding the putative lipase substrate-binding domain and genotyping of Aeromonas hydrophila

Article Abstract:

Results demonstrate that all three strains of Aeromonas show lipase activity and their amplified DNA fragments exhibit a nucleotide sequence involved in the substrate-binding domain. Data indicate that a species-specific nucleotide sequence and amino acid sequence patterns and that the species possess a gene encoding a protein displaying lipase activity.

Complete type III secretion system of a mesophilic Aeromonas hydrophila strain

Article Abstract:

The existence and genetic organization of a functional type III secretion system (TTSS) in a mesophilic Aeromonas strain by initially using the aeromonas hydrophila strain AH-3 is discussed. Results suggest that it seems logical to conclude that the mesophilic aeromonas strains that possess TTSS genes have a complete TTSS.
