Effects of a chlorhexidine gluconate-containing mouthwash on the vitality and antimicrobial susceptibility of in vitro oral bacterial ecosystems

Article Abstract:

The authors describe the study of chlorhexidine gluconate-containing mouthwash exposure upon bacteria's antimicrobial susceptibilities. The effects of this exposure have been investigated via determination of vancomycin, penicillin V, erythromycin and metronidazole against aerobic clones isolated from baseline microcosms afetr 5 days of chlorhexidine exposure.

Molecular analysis of the subgingival microbiota in health and disease

Article Abstract:

The molecular analysis of the periodontal microbiota in health and disease is presented. The statistical analysis has shown that the presence of Treponema socranskii and Pseudomonas sp. is a very important predictor of disease and that there are no changes in terms of eubacterial species diversity between health and disease.

Effects of quaternary-ammonium-based formulations on bacterial community dynamics and antimicrobial susceptibility

Article Abstract:

An investigation is made on the effects of quaternary-ammonium compounds on domestic sink drain bacteria with microcosms and pure cultures derived from them. The methods and results are discussed.
