Article Abstract:
The quantitative evaluation of the effectiveness of high-temperature, short holding time (HTST) pasteurization and homogenization with respect to inactivation of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis is discussed. Results suggest that HTST pasteurization conditions equal to 15s at more than 72 degree Celsius leads to more than seven fold reduction of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis.

Article Abstract:
The survival of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis was studied in 250 liters of dam water and sediment in large water troughs that were placed in either a semiexposed location or in a shaded location and compared to survival in fecal material and soil in the shaded location. Results suggest that water may be a significant reservoir of M. avium subsp. paratuberculosis infection.

Article Abstract:
Two strains of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis were inoculated into sterilized milk to evaluate inactivation by high hydrostatic pressure. Reductions of M. avium subsp. paratuberculosis increased with pressure level.
