Effect of temperature on adhesion of Vibrio strain AK-1 to Oculina patagonica and on coral bleaching
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the effect of seawater temperature on adhesion of Vibrio strain AK-1 to Oculina patagonica and on coral bleaching. The study of the adhesion offers information on the carbohydrate specificity of the process and on the effect of temperature on adhesin production. Results suggest that Vibrio strain AK-1 possesses an adhesin that recognizes beta-galactopyranosides on the coral surface. Adhesin genes of Vibrio strain AK-1 were expressed at 25 degrees C but not at 16 degrees C.

Bacteria associated with mucus and tissues of the coral Oculina patagonica in summer and winter
Article Abstract:
A study of the bacterial community of Mediterranean coral Oculina patagonica during summer and winter is reported. This presents a complete database for future examinations of changes in the bacterial community during bleaching events.
