Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the inhibition of acetoclastic methanogenesis, using methyl fluoride, which helps to determine the relative contribution of acetate versus Hydrogen/Carbon dioxide to total methane production in natural environments. It was observed that the maintenance requirements of the population were covered by the growth and final population size of methanogens, which were consistent with energetic conditions.

Article Abstract:
The effect of pH values and different temperatures on methane production and archaeal community composition are studied using samples from an acidic peat bog. The analysis has shown that [H.sub.2]-dependent methanogenesis increased at the lowest pH and an acidophilic and psychotolerant Methanobacterium sp. was isolated using [H.sub.2]-plus-C[O.sub.2]-supplemented medium at pH 4.5.

Article Abstract:
The examination of archael diversity across a geochemical gradient in the Antrim Shale is discussed. Findings reveal low archael diversity in the pore waters with eight phototypes identified in well G and only one phtotype identified in well B.
