Importance of Cry1 beta-endotoxin domain II loops for binding specificity in Heliothis virescens (L.)
Article Abstract:
Ligand blotting and vesicle binding research results indicate that domain II loops play a determinant role in Cry toxin specificity within Heliothis virescens, a cotton crop pest. The Cry toxin used was obtained from Bacillus thuringiensis; implications for agricultural bacteriology are also discussed.

Binding analyses of Bacillus thuringiensis cry delta-endotoxins using brush border membrane vesicles of Ostrinia nubilalis
Article Abstract:
The Cry1Ab, Cry1Ac, and Cry1F endotoxins of Bacillus thuringiensis bind to the brush border of the European corn borer via isoforms of aminopeptidase and cadherin. Commercial corn has been genetically modified with the Cry1Ab endotoxin to control insect pests.

Dual resistance to Bacillus thuringiensis Cry1Ac and Cry2Aa toxins in Heliothis virescens suggests multiple mechanisms of resistance
Article Abstract:
Results indicates that in Heliothis virescens there are at least two mechanisms of toxin resistance as a result of selection with a single toxin, which leads to resistance to both Cry1Ac and Cry2Aa toxins from Bacillus thuringiensis. Data suggest that H. virescens can exhibit simultaneous resistance to distinct Cry toxins.
