Double-layer plague assay for quantification of enteroviruses

Article Abstract:

A double-layer plague assay for the quantification of neterroviruses, combining a monolayer plague assay and a suspended-cell plague assay is described. The double-layer assay provides significantly greater counts than other methods of virus quantification of both suspensions of pure culture viruses and naturally occurring viruses.

Enteroviruses and bacteriophages in bathing waters

Article Abstract:

A new procedure of detecting and counting enteroviruses based on the VIRADEN method applied to 10 liters of seawater is examined. It improved the efficiency of detection by taking into account both the number of positive isolations and numbers found with traditional methods.

Comparison of a reporter assay and immunomagnetic separation real-time reverse transcription-PCR for the detection of enteroviruses in seeded environmental water samples

Article Abstract:

The comparison of two newly developed protocols for infective virus detection with the plaque assay is presented. The new procedures have detected infective viruses in environmental samples at the same level as that of the plaque assay.
