Dosage compensation in high resolution: Global up-regulation through local recruitment

Article Abstract:

The availability of high-resolution and comprehensive data sets of dosage compensation complex- targeted genes should allow one to gain insights into sequence features that distinguish targets from nontargets. The observed discrete binding to active gene itself is compatible with models of transcriptional up-regulation by the dosage compensation complex.

The von Hippel-Lindau tumor suppressor protein is a component of an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase activity

Article Abstract:

The von Hippel-Lindau tumor suppressor protein is discussed relative to its being a component in an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase activity. From recent research it can be seen that pVHL is a component of a potential SCF-like E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex and that likely a direct link exists between pVHL tumor suppressor and ubiquitination.

Variant histone H3.3 is deposited at sites of nucleosomal displacement throughout transcribed genes while active histone modifications show a promoter-proximal bias

Article Abstract:

The distribution of histone H3 and its variant H3.3 relative to chromatin structure and elongating polymerase is examined. It is observed that H3 and H3.3 displaces and is followed by selective deposition of H3.3 upon gene induction.
