Alterations in the proteome of the Euprymna scolopes light organ in response to symbiotic vibrio fischeri
Article Abstract:
Results demonstrate that Vibrio fischeri induces modifications in the symbiotic organ of Euprymna scolpes in terms of protein expression in the host tissue. Data indicate that proteome changes occurring in the first 24 hours of symbiotic association differ from those affected over a long-term periods.

Dominance of Vibrio fischeri in secreted mucus outside the light organ of Euprymna scolopes: the first site of symbiont specificity
Article Abstract:
Research examines the mechanism of colonization by the symbiotic Vibrio fischeri in Euprymna scolopes. Results indicate that interaction between the host squid and V. fischeri begins during the aggregation process within the mucus, before the viral entry into the light organ crypt spaces.

Identifying components of the NF-(sub K)B pathway in the beneficial Euprymna scolopes-vibrio fischeri light organ symbiosis
Article Abstract:
Juvenile light organ expressed sequence tag (EST) libraries is used to search for transcripts encoding proteins of the Toll/NF-(sub K)B pathway and rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE) PCR to obtain full-length sequences. The Toll/NF-(sub K)B is a common, evolutionary conserved innate pathway that modulates the response of animal cells to microbe-associated patterns (MAMPs).
