Diversity and functional analysis of bacterial communities associated with natural hydrocarbon seeps in acidic soils at Rainbow Springs, Yellowstone National Park

Article Abstract:

The bacterial communities associated with natural hydrocarbon seeps in nonthermal soil at Rainbow Springs, Yellow Stone National Park was described. The soil chemical analysis revealed high sulphate concentrations and low pH value that are characteristic of acid-sulfate geothermal activity.

Competitive fitness of isolates enriched on phenanthrene sorbed to model phases

Article Abstract:

The competitive fitness of three phenanthrene-mineralizing isolates is evaluated to find whether the contaminant availability determine the isolates competitive fitness. The results indicate that contaminant availability alone does not determine the isolates competitive fitness.
