Expression of Alcaligenes eutrophus flavohemoprotein and engineered Vitreoscilla hemoglobin-reductase fusion protein for improved hypoxic growth of Escherichia coli
Article Abstract:
Fusing the flavohemoprotein from Alcaligenes eutrophus with NAD improves the growth of E. coli in hypoxic conditions. The same was true when fusing NAD to the hemoglobin produced by Vitreoscilla sp.

Dissection of central carbon metabolism of hemoglobin-expressing Escherichia coli by (super 13)C nuclear magnetic resonance flux distribution analysis in microaerobic bioprocesses
Article Abstract:
Introducing hemoglobin into industrial bacteria can alleviate the effects of low oxygen levels. This was demonstrated by E. coli MG1655 cells that expressed Vitreoscilla hemoglobin or Alcaligenes eutrophus flavohemoprotein.

Genetic engineering of an industrial strain of Saccharopolyspora erythraea for stable expression of the Vitreoscilla haemoglobin gene (vhb)
Article Abstract:
Actinomycetes/Streptomycetes expression vectors have been described for expression of Vitreoscilla haemoglobin gene (vhb) in an erythromycin-producing strain of Saccharopolyspora erythraea. Erythromycin production in the recombinant vhb-expressing strain was found to be much enhanced compared to the original strain.
