Differential pharmacological regulation of drug efflux and pharmacoresistant schizophrenia

Article Abstract:

The expression and role of P-glycoprotein (P-gp), the multidrug efflux transporter that prevents drug substrates from crossing the blood-brain barrier (BBB) in managing pharmacoresistant schizophrenia, is analyzed. The possible influence of the combination antipsychotic therapy on P-gp function at BBB and its effects in the prevention and circumvention of unsuitable therapeutic response in schizophrenic disorders is discussed.

Intelligence and the developing human brain

Article Abstract:

Several structural and functional in vivo neuroimaging techniques are used for determining the brain properties that make people intelligent. The results show that the genetic overlap of the cortical morphology and several genes affects the neuronal development and hence the level of intelligence.
