Differential cytokine expression in avian cells in response to invasion by Salmonella typhimurium, Salmonella enteritidis and Salmonella gallinarum

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on Salmonella interactions with the host. The authors have determined cytokine levels including pro-inflammatory cytokines produced after the invasion of host range serotypes Salmonella typhimurium and S. enteritidis and host-specific serotype S. gallinarum into chicken cells in vitro, and have described the mechanisms of immunopathogenesis of salmonellosis in chicken.

SseA is a chaperone for the SseB and SseD translocon components of the Salmonella pathogenicity-island-2-encoded type III secretion system

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on type III secretion system which has been encoded by Salmonella pathogenicity island 2. The authors have investigated the functions of one of the gene sseA of one of Salmonella pathogenicity island 2 operons which includes genes encoding translocon components (SseB, SseC and SseD), and the results demonstrate that SseA is a chaperone for SseB and SseD.

Multiple inverted DNA repeats of Bacteriodes fragilis that control polysaccharide antigenic variation are similar to the Hin region inverted repeats of Salmonella typhimurium

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on opportunistic pathogen Bacteriodes fragilis. Results demonstrate that plasmid-encoded Hin invertase homologue which is present in B. fragilis binds to the invertible regions.
