Differences in hyporheic-zone microbial community structure along a heavy-metal contamination gradient
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on relationship between hyporheic microbial community structure and fluvially deposited heavy metal concentration in river sediments. The authors describe the study of this relationship carried out via the use of denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis, 16S rRNA gene phylogenetic analysis, quantitative PCR and phospholipid fatty acid analysis.

Expression of a cloned cyclopropane fatty acid synthase gene reduced solvent formation in Clostridium acetobutylicum ATCC 824
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on cyclopropane fatty acid synthase gene from Clostridium acetobutylicum ATCC 824. The cloning and expression of this gene have been carried out under clostridial ptb promoter control, and the results are discussed.

Overexpression of groESL in Clostridium acetobutylicum results in increased solvent production and tolerance, prolonged metabolism, amd changes in the cell's transcriptional program
Article Abstract:
The authors have investigated Clostridium acetobutylicum ATCC 824. They describe the use of DNA arrays and Western blot analyses in studying role of groESL overexpression and host-plasmid interactions in this bacterium.
