Article Abstract:
A novel system, based on the regeneration and reliable protoplasting conditions of Actinomadura verrucosospora, was designed in an effort to determine the gene type which codes for the synthesis of angucyclic antibiotic pradimicin. The system generated encouraging results when applied to actual sequence analysis functions, recording an efficiency rate of more than 10(super 5) CFU/microgram of DNA. A close correlation between the nucleotide sequence of PKS genes with angucyclic antibiotic biosynthesis was also observed.

Article Abstract:
The adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP)-phosphofructokinase (PFK) protein was purified to homogeneity from Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2) strain MT 1109 grown under standard conditions by gel filtration technique. The pure, active 110 kDa enzyme exhibited Michaelis-Menten kinetics with a single 40 kDa subunit. The microbial ATP-FTK protein which is allosterically inhibited by phosphoenolpyruvate also exhibited an amino acid sequence that is 70% similar to the PPi-FTK of Amycolatopsis methanolica.

Article Abstract:
The taxonomy of the partner strain ofthe mixed culture in the simulated production of biphenomycin A and the role ofeach microorganism in the mixed culture are discussed. High-performance liquid chromatography was used for the taxonomic study of the strain which was isolated from soil samples. Only a small amount of biphenomycin A was produced by Streptomyces griseorubiginosus.
