Article Abstract:
A second-generation solar disinfection (SODIS) system (pouch) was developed using food-grade, commercially available packaging materials and evaluated to test its effectiveness for the treatment of drinking water. Freely available resources like the sunlight and a specifically designed plastic pouch could be used for improving the quality of water.

Article Abstract:
The removal of human astrovirus from raw sewage and treated effluents was impeded by the presence of a higher number of infectious particles of genogroup B astrovirus. The number of RNA copies per liter of genogroup B was found to be very low in raw sewage as well as in treated affluent as compared to that of the genogroup A.

Article Abstract:
The improved inactivation strategy for waterborne pathogen, adenovirus disinfection based on polychromatic UV sources is discussed. The implication of inactivation enhancement for water treatment, public health, and the future UV regulation are discussed.
