Development and assessment of a real-time PCR assay for rapid and sensitive detection of a novel thermotolerant bacterium, lactobacillus thermotolerans, in chicken feces

Article Abstract:

A new real-time PCR assay was successfully developed using a TaqMan fluorescence probe for specific detection and enumeration of a novel bacterium, Lactobacillus thermotolerans, in chicken feces. The resulted suggest that in general Lactobacillus thermotolerans is a normal member of the chicken gut microbiota, although it is present at relatively low levels in the feces.

Use of 16S rRNA gene-targeted group-specific primers for real-time PCR analysis of predominant bacteria in human feces

Article Abstract:

Sixteen S rRNA gene-targeted group-specific primers are designed and validated for specific detection and quantification of the Clostridium leptum subgroup and the Atopobium cluster. Examination of changes in the population and the composition of the intestinal flora reveal that the composition of the flora of each volunteer remained stable throughout the test period.

Diversity and mechanisms of alkali tolerance in lactobacilli

Article Abstract:

Diversity and mechanisms of alkali tolerance in 34 strains of lactobacilli were determined. It was found that the most important factor determining the diversity of alkali tolerance was the alkali tolerance of the strains' glycolysis reactions.
