Article Abstract:
The nucleotide sequence of a 12,361 bp DNA fragment in the 76 degree region of Bacillus subtilis chromosome reveals ten putative ORFs. Researchers found the amino acid sequences of the glv-1 and glv-2 ORF products comparable to those of glvG, the 6-phospho-beta-glucosidase gene, and glvC, the IIC domain of the glv operon's phosphotransferase system (PTS) of Escherichia coli. The C-terminal region of Glv-2 resembles GlvB, the IIB domain of the E. coli PTS, indicating that the glvB and glvC genes in B. subtilis are fused. The functions of the genes in the 12 kb region are discussed.

Article Abstract:
The nucleotide and genome analysis of the 23.4 kb chromosome segment between 69 to 70 degrees of the Bacillus subtilis genetic map was reported. The region contained 18 ORFs, one of which is partial. Homology search for the ORFs product showed that 12 were similar to known proteins like the ABC transporter, quinolone-resistance protein, aldehyde dehydrogenase, amino acid transporter, and fosmidomycin-resistance protein.

Article Abstract:
Cloning and sequencing of the 40.6 kb chromosome segment of Bacillus subtilis genome indicated the presence of 38 complete open reading frames (ORF) and one partial ORF. The amino acid sequences of the YfjG, YfjH, YfjI, YfjJ and YfjK ORFs are similar to the regulatory proteins that mediate the activity of acetoin dehydrogenase. Furthermore, 31 ORF have ATG initiation codons while four ORFs have GTG initiation codons.
