Detection, quantitation, and phylogenetic analysis of noroviruses in Japanese oysters

Article Abstract:

The norovirus genome is analyzed by reverse transcription coupled polymerase chain reaction technique and phylogenetic analysis by using neighbor-joining method. Research embodies analysis of 191 Japanese oyster samples and the capsid gene analysis shows wide genetic diversity. Data indicate about 10% of the Japanese oysters harbor noroviruses.

Validation of a green fluorescent protein-labeled strain of Vibrio vulnificus for use in the evaluation of postharvest strategies for handling of raw oysters

Article Abstract:

A biological indicator, which could be used to study the behavior of Vibrio vulnificus, an important molluscan shellfish-associated human pathogen is described. A V. vulnificus ATCC 27562 derivative that expresses green fluorescent protein (GFP) and kanamycin resistance is constructed using conjugation.
