Detection of noroviruses in tap water in Japan by means of a new method for concentrating enteric viruses in large volumes of freshwater
Article Abstract:
A new enteric virus concentration method using a cation-coated filter was developed for detecting noroviruses in large volumes of freshwater and was applied to the detection of noroviruses in tap water in Tokyo, Japan. NV-G1 and NV-G2, which have more resistance towards chlorine inactivation, were detected in 10 of the 98 tap water samples.

Determination of pyrimidine dimers in Escherichia coli and Cryptosporidium parvum during UV light inactivation, photoreactivation, and dark repair
Article Abstract:
Researchers show that Escherichia coli can repair DNA damage caused by UV radiation and begin growing again, but Cryptosporidium parvum is inactivated even though it can also repair the damage. E. coli can only repair the damage in light, but C. parvum can repair the damage in light and darkness.

Application of cation-coated filter method to detection of noroviruses, enteroviruses, adenoviruses, and torque teno viruses in the Tamagawa River in Japan
Article Abstract:
The occurrence of human enteric viruses in surface water in the Tamagawa River, Japan is studied. Sixty-four samples are collected from six sites along the river, and 500 ml of the sample is concentrated using the cation-coated filter method.
