Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the relationship between the cellular viability and detection of mRNA in Escherichia coli in cells killed by ethanol or heat. For the detection of mRNA from rpoH, groEL and tufA genes, reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR) methods were developed. mRNA targets were detected immediately in cells killed by ethanol or heat but disappeared at room temperature. Results are in good agreement with the hypothesis that mRNA is the most promising indicator of viability in bacteria. However, its persistence in dead cells varies according to certain conditions.

Research indicates that the ability of DmpR-like regulators to control aromatic catabolic pathways may be due to the ability to quickly adapt regulator properties to various polluting compound profiles. Studies were conducted on two different soil types using the wild-type system as well as an isogenic counterpart with an enhanced sensitivity to para-substituted phenols.

Fluorescence microscopy can detect the number of ends, which would be an indicator of DNA damage in prokaryotes.
