Article Abstract:
Common blue mussels, horse mussels, and flat oysters obtained from various harvesting and commercial production sites along the Norwegian coast are screened for the presence of norovirus by a real time reverse transcription (RT)-nested PCR assay. The results indicate that mussels from the Norwegian coast can constitute a risk of infection with enteric viruses and that routine testing of samples may be justified.

Article Abstract:
The survival of an aroA mutant of Aromonas hydrophila in aquatic microcosms prepared from fish water tanks is described. The results help to understand the behavior of aroA strain in natural environments and suggest that the inactivation of the aroA gene may be beneficial for the safety of this live vaccine for aquacultures.
