Detection and quantification of Wallemia sebi in Aerosols by real-time PCR, conventional PCR, and cultivation

Article Abstract:

Two sets of PCR primers specific to Wallemia sebi are developed that can be applied in either conventional PCR or real-time PCR for rapid detection and quantification of the fungus in environmental samples. The findings indicate a high concentration of W. sebi spores, which indicates the prevalence of W. sebi in farms handling hay and grain ad in cow barns.

Diversity of fungi, bacteria and actinomycetes on leaves decomposing in a stream

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to assess the diversity of fungi, bacteria, and actinomycetes on decaying leaves of sugar maple and white oak in small, forested stream. The factors such as the ecological role of the taxa, stage of decay, and time of exposure appeared to be more important determinants of microbial structure than leaf quality.
