Article Abstract:
The scrapie incubation time phenotype in mice having chromosomes with meiotic crossovers near Prn-p was determined. Analysis showed the gene Prn-i, which was positioned 0.22 cM distal and 0.67 proximal to Prn-p, controlled the interval between inoculation and illness in experimental mouse scrapie. The results also showed that the influence of Prn-p (sub b) expression on shortening the incubation was decreased when the transgene was transferred to mice with long incubation time allele. The study implied that Prn-i and Prn-p (sub b) transgenes controlled different scrapie pathogenetic mechanisms.

Article Abstract:
Data from a set of four backcrosses of C57BL/6J mice and F1 hybrids from crosses with linkage stocks were analyzed to determine the role of sex in transmission ratio distortion (TRD). The results showed that a locus or loci in chromosome 2 is involved in TRD of a region of that chromosome. However, the data was insufficient to provide conclusions about the role of sex in influencing transmission ratio. A larger sample size is recommended for a more conclusive result.

Article Abstract:
The insertional mutations in genes are screened by mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells and a gene trap vector. The screening involves the developmental regulation of the genes at 8.5 days of embryogenesis. The screening reveals that the active transcription units are disrupted by the 393 clonal integrations of the 38,730 cell lines having vector integrations.
