Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the hypothesis that the DNA structure and novel amino and carboxyl termini of the Chlamydia sigma-70 analogue modulate promoter recognition. An in vivo heterologous transcription system was developed in Escherichia coli by expressing sigma-66 and assaying sigma-66-dependent expression from chlamydial sequences cloned into a chloramphenicol acetyltransferase reporter vector. Results suggest that a single sigma subunit has the capacity to initiate transcription as a primary molecular mechanism of global gene regulation independent of additional Chlamydia-specific transcription factors.

Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the rhodamine 123 used for the mitochondrial respiratory function evaluation. The optimization and validation of the low-concentration rhodamine 123 straining protocol for the flow-cytometric assessment of mitochondrial membrane potential change in whole yeast cells have been carried out and are reported.

Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the PotB and MOMP porins from Chlamydia trachomatis. The identification of the metabolites which may be obtained from the host has been carried out, and the ability of these metabolites to enter through PorB or MOMP has been investigated.
