DNA Surveillance:Web-based molecular identification of whales, dolphins, and porpoises

Article Abstract:

The authors describe Web-based application called DNA Surveilance which is used in population and species identification of unknown specimens. The system is aligning user-submitted DNA sequences with the curated data set of reference sequence.

Genetic and environmental components of variation in eumelanin and phaeomelanin sex-traits in the barn owl

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on melanin-based sex-traits in barn owls. The hypothesis that the plumage coloration and spottiness are expressed independent of each other in this owl has been tested, and the results are reported.
