D-lactate dehydrogenase gene (ldhD) inactivation and resulting metabolic effects in the Lactobacillus johnsonii strains La1 and N312

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine D-lactate dehydrogenase (D-LDH) gene (ldhD) inactivation and resulting metabolic effects in the Lactobacillus johnsonii strains La1 and N312. The ldhD was isolated and an in vitro-truncated copy of the gene was utilized to inactivate the genomic copy in the two strains by gene replacement. Results indicate that D- and L-LDH exist in substantial excess in L johnsonii for their role to eliminate pyruvate and regenerate NAD+.

Isolation and identification of actinobacteria from surface-sterilized wheat roots

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on filamentous actinobacteria from the surface-sterilized roots of wheat plants. The authors describe the isolation, identification and characterization of these bacteria, and discuss bacteria's role in pathogen defence and growth regulation of their hosts.

Determination of the domain of the Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus cell surface proteinase PrtB involved in attachment to the cell wall after heterologous expression of the prtB gene in Lactococcus lactis

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on cell surface proteinase PrtB of Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus. Results demonstrate that the utmost carboxy end of PrtB is involved in the attachment to bacterial cell walls.
