Article Abstract:
F-like plasmid TP181 is particularly vulnerable to curing by the naphthoquinone derivative plumbagin, which may attack DNA gyrase. Curing was most intense at pH 7.2. An EcoRI fragment which has the RF1A replicon of TP181 was connected to a Km(super R) determinant, producing miniTP181. Plumbagin impeded with the replication of miniTP181, depressing its copy number and increasing the rate of segregation. It also prevented the lethal effect of the ccd locus after rifampicin treatment, which mimics the production of plasmid-free segregants, so that more of these plasmid-free cells would survive.

Article Abstract:
The organization and sequence of the R751 plasmid's central control region was reported. The cross reactivity of the control functions with those of the plasmid RK2 and the conservation of the partitioning functions in R751 were also presented. Results reveal significant similarities and differences in regulation and partitioning which will serves as a benchmark for future studies of these mechanisms.

Article Abstract:
The pM3 plasmid of Pseudomonas species is described. This plasmid belongs to the IncP-9 group, and confers tetracycline and streptomycin resistance. The plasmid was found in numerous Pseudomonas isolates from Belarus.
