Crystal structure of a 70S ribosome-tRNA complex reveals functional interactions and rearrangements

Article Abstract:

The crystal structure of the thermus thermophilus 70S ribosome containing a model mRNA and two tRNAs at 3.7 Angstrom resolution is presented. The differences between the conformations of vacant and tRNA-bound 70S ribosomes suggest an induced fit of the ribosome structure in response to tRNA binding, including significant changes in the peptidyl-transferase catalytic site.

Translation silenced by fused pair of tRNA synthetases

Article Abstract:

GluProRs gets released from a multisynthetase translation complex in response to a gamma-interferon and forms a four-protein GAIT complex. It silences translation of ceruloplasmin (Cp), a protein linked to the

Noncanonical function of Glutamly-Prolyl-tRNA synthetase: gene-specific silencing of translation

Article Abstract:

Ligation of amino acids is catalyzed by aminoacyl tRNA synthetases to cognate tRNAs. It is found that GluProRS has divergent functions in protein synthesis.
