Cross-species GacA-controlled induction of antibiosis in pseudomonads

Article Abstract:

The signal extracts prepared from culture supernatants of Pseudomonas fluorescens CHA0 and Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO have stimulated GacA-dependent expression of small RNAs and also of antibiotic compounds in both hosts. Pseudomonas corrugata LMG2172 and Pseudomonas fluorescens SBW25 have produced signal molecules stimulating GacA-controlled antibiotic synthesis in strain CHA0, thus presenting a novel, N-acyl-homoserine lactone-independent type of interspecies communication.

Phylogeography of sulfate-reducing bacteria among disturbed sediments, disclosed by analysis of the dissimilatory sulfite reductase genes (dsrAB)

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to elucidate how sulfidogenic communities are composed worldwide, to explore the hydrocarbon biodegradation potential globally, and to determine whether biogeographic patterns are apparent in sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) communities. It is concluded that while disclosing the structure of sulfidogenic communities among disturbed sites, provide insights about the diversity, uncharacterized extent, and biogeography of SRB.

Low temperature isolation of disease-suppressive bacteria and characterization of a distinctive group of pseudomonads

Article Abstract:

The impact of individual isolation factors on the disease-suppressive index (DSI) of almost 600 isolates was analyzed. Some isolation factors that are important for obtaining disease-suppressive bacteria in the system are described along with a novel group of biocontrol pseudomonads.
