Article Abstract:

Te mporal specification of certain visceral motor neurons and serotonergic ne ur ons was found to vary along the anterior-posterior axis of the hindbrain. Also the timing of their generation depends critically on the integrated activities of Nkx- and Hox-class homeodomain proteins. T o investigate , s equential generation of visceral motor neurons and serotonergic neurons from a common pool of neural progenitors in the ventral hindbrain was studied.

Olig2 and Ngn2 function in opposition to modulate gene expression in motor neuron progenitor cells

Article Abstract:

A study shows Olig2 antagonizes the premature expression of post-mitotic motor neuron genes in pMN cells. The findings also show that the antagonistic relationship between Ngn2 and Olig2 is mediated by protein interactions that squelch activity as well as competition for shared DNA-binding sites.
